Five new council homes ready to welcome families

Five brand new two-bedroomed council houses have been built on the former caretaker’s depot at Caledonian, Glascote. 

The houses are now ready for Tamworth Borough Council to allocate to local families, with the first families moving in within weeks.

Tamworth Borough Council contracted J Harper and Sons, to build the £1.3 million project.

The five new homes are made up of two bedroom, two-storey dwelling and will be added to the current council housing stock of over 4,000 properties.

Stephen Gabriel, Chief Executive of Tamworth Borough Council, said: “We’re delighted that this housing project is now completed, and five new homes are ready to welcome local families. These new properties are modern and attractive and I’m sure their new residents will be proud to call them home.

“The partnership with J Harper and Sons has been a real success. Residents in the area were consulted throughout. 

“Housing stock provision of good quality and affordable housing in Tamworth, is a key priority for Tamworth Borough Council’s corporate plan.”
