  • Free annual festival packed with medieval entertainment
  • Activities and fun for all ages
  • A full day of action kicking off at 11am

The countdown is officially on for Tamworth’s much-loved St George’s Day celebrations, as the Castle Grounds prepare to come alive with an action-packed day of medieval adventure on Saturday 18 April, from 11am to 4pm.

The FREE annual festival is one of the highlights of Tamworth Borough Council’s vibrant calendar of outdoor events, attracting thousands of visitors from across the country each year. With just days to go, excitement is building for a jam-packed programme of entertainment guaranteed to delight the whole family.

The line-up includes festival favourites such as jousting, a living history camp, dragons, archery, fairground rides, community games and zorb balls.

Back by overwhelming popular demand, the Grand Medieval Joust promises edge-of-your-seat excitement as St George and rival knights on horseback charge into the main arena. Expect daring stunts, trick riding and dramatic clashes, all delivered with plenty of humour and flair by expert performers and their magnificent horses.

New for 2026, ‘The Warriors’ will take to the stage with a bold and entertaining combat display, followed by an engaging myth-busting session. With high-energy fight scenes and plenty of laughs, this show is set to be a crowd favourite.

Also joining this year’s line-up is ‘The Dragon Princess’, a magical storytelling experience featuring a giant walking dragon. Audiences will be swept into the tale of a brave princess and a not-so-brave knight on a quest to save their kingdom. The performance will be followed by a parade from local scout groups, culminating in the Scout Promise ceremony in the main arena at 1pm.

The Community Games returns, offering a wide range of activities led by local clubs and organisations. Families can get involved in a variety of sports and challenges, collecting stickers along the way to earn a Community Games medal. Perfect for encouraging everyone to get active, regardless of age or ability.

Visitors can also enjoy a fantastic selection of food and drink from vendors, alongside community and artisan stalls offering unique treats and handmade goods. And no festival would be complete without the excitement of Barkers Fun Fair, bringing classic rides and attractions to the grounds.
