What is consultation?
Consultation is a process of dialogue leading to a decision. Consultation involves seeking opinions on options before decisions are reached, seeking to increase the involvement of local people, communities, businesses and the voluntary sector in important decisions that may impact them. The main aim of consultation is to listen to and learn from local people and communities.

Market Licensing Policy
A market licensing policy serves as a strategic framework for Tamworth to manage, support and regulate markets within its jurisdiction under Part III of the Food Act 1984. A local authority should have a resolution setting out the current market arrangements and the powers under which the markets are held. This secures the ongoing right for the market to operate and ensures:
- Clarity and Consistency in Decision-Making
- Economic and Community Development
- Support and certainty for Local Traders
- Control and Quality Assurance
- Legal Protection and Enforcement
Any fees derived from a market licensing policy must be proportionate to the costs of the licensing process itself, including application processing and granting or renewing the license. The policy has been developed to align with the revised Street Trading Policy to ensure effective management of public trading places and market activity in the borough.

Citizens Panel:
We are always looking for more residents who are interested in having their say on council services to join our citizens’ panel.
Our citizens’ panel is a group of local residents who we ask about local services. If you join, we'll contact you three or four times a year highlighting consultations and surveys. There is no obligation to take part, you can join whichever interest you the most.
You may also be invited to take part in discussion groups or workshops.
