Funding of £70,000 now available for voluntary groups across Tamworth

Voluntary organisations across Tamworth are now able to apply for grants of between £500 and £5,000 to support individuals, families and children in Tamworth, thanks to a new cash £70,000 boost.

Two new grant schemes will support voluntary and community social enterprise organisations (VCSE) with a total funding allocation of £70,000.

Connecting Communities Grant is a new Tamworth Borough Council funded scheme with an allocation of £40,000 aimed at VCSE groups that are supporting:

  • Social isolation and loneliness
  • Emotional health
  • Homelessness
  • Vulnerable people.

The Local Innovation Community Grant is a Staffordshire County Council and Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner fund, with an allocation of £30,000. The funding is offered to VCSE groups working to:

  • Reduce absence from school
  • Prevent and/or reduce the number of young people being involved in anti-social behaviour, youth offending and risk-taking behaviour.

Successful applications will receive grants from £500 up to a maximum of £5,000 to spend on their projects between April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020.

Both schemes will support voluntary organisations to continue to grow and develop in Tamworth.

Any groups interested in applying, must do so before the deadline for applications on Friday, February 22 by 2pm.

To apply, organisations must visit Tamworth Borough Council’s In-tend portal www.in-tendhost.co.uk/tamworthbc

Cllr Stephen Doyle, Cabinet member for Communities & Partnerships, said: “We are always delighted to offer grants to continue helping and supporting voluntary and community groups in Tamworth.
