Cashless parking
As of March 19 2014, motorists using Tamworth Borough Council’s Pay and Display car parks can now opt to pay ‘cashless’ by using a smartphone app or by phoning a local rate number 01827 23 45 67.
A new feature ONLY AVAILABLE with cashless parking will mean that visitors/commuters will be able to park for up to 48 hours in some of the car parks and use a flexible tariff for overnight parking.
The following car parks can be used to park for 24/48 hour periods:-
- Albion Street
- Marmion Street
- Lower Gungate
- Church Lane
- Hospital Street
The tariff is £4.50 for up to 24 hours and £9.00 for up to 48 hours.* Eg a car parking at 8am on a Monday can park until 8am on Tuesday for £4.50 or 8am on Wednesday for £9.00
Users of Spinning School Lane can also use the same option for £5/£10 respectively.
On Jolly Sailor and Riverdrive car parks the 24 hour tariff is £1.50 and 48 hour is £3.00*
Additionally, a flexible rollover tariff is available for short term overnight stays on ALL car parks. Eg a payment of a 2 hour (£1.40) option at 5.30pm will enable a stay on the car park until 9.30am the following morning or a 4 hour (£2.20) option will allow parking until 11.30am.*
All other tariffs are available on all car parks at all times during the day. *

Flexibility
Motorists using the service also have the option to request text alerts prior to the end of expired time to opt to pay for further time when delayed.
Registration
Users can pre-register for the system on-line at www.phoneandpay.co.uk, by phoning 01827 234567 or download the “Phone and Pay” smartphone app available on Android or I-phone.
Businesses
Tamworth businesses can register for an account which can be either be pre-loaded or paid for as used when a corporate credit/debit card is used.
The system provides for full VAT receipts.
The use of the phone and pay will purchase of parking spaces for your customers when logging the registration number of their vehicle.
Future developments (coming soon) will also mean that businesses and town centre workers will be able to purchase season tickets on-line.
