Councillor Rob Pritchard, Deputy Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said:” What an amazing weekend of celebrations for the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen, both across the country, the world and in our own home town.

“Tamworth Borough Council organised a packed weekend of events and fun including live outdoor performances, storytelling, puppetry, magician shows, cinema at the Assembly Rooms, community sports events including a 2km and 5km fun run, The Big Lunch, outdoor inflatable obstacle course from The Realm, Hamsterzorb and cream teas!

It was wonderful to see so many families take part in the free sports activities, including a ‘royal funrun’, a piggyback race and tug of war in the Castle Grounds. Even the rain on Saturday didn’t put people off!

“Throughout both days families booked tickets for ‘The Realm’ outdoor inflatable obstacle challenge and the Hamserzorb. Sunday brought crowds of people all eager to join in the Big Lunch with picnics, plus live entertainment at the Bandstand and the performance tent proved to be very popular.

We thank everyone who joined us and helped make the weekend one to remember!”
