Council budget and spending
Tamworth Borough Council operates its services on an annual budget of £60 million.
This is made up of:
Gross revenue expenditure of £40 million General Fund (net of tariff payable to Government) and £20 million of Housing Revenue Account.
This is primarily made up of:
- £15.5 million - government benefit grants
- £1.7 million - government support
- £20 million - council house rents
- £14 million - corporate rents fees and charges
- £4.2 million – Business Rates
- £3.8 million - Council Tax
- £0.6 million - Interest on bank balances and investments
The Capital programme for 2019/20 totals £10 million (£9 million housing, £1 million General Fund).
Council Tax for 2019/20 is £1,715.41 for a Band D property. This is made up of:
- £1,246.23 - Staffordshire County Council
- £216.56 - Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner Staffordshire
- £75.53 - Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Authority
- £176.89 - Tamworth Borough Council Services
