Council budget and spending

Tamworth Borough Council operates its services on an annual revenue budget of £60 million.

This is made up of:

Gross revenue expenditure of £40 million General Fund (net of tariff payable to Government) and £20 million of Housing Revenue Account.

This is primarily made up of:

  • £15 million - government benefit grants
  • £2 million - government support
  • £14 million - corporate rents fees and charges
  • £4 million – Business Rates
  • £4 million - Council Tax and
  • £20 million - council house rents

The Capital programme for 2021/22 totals £25 million (£10 million housing, £15 million General Fund).

Council Tax for 2020/21 is £1,780.17 for a Band D property. This is made up of:

  • £1,360.62 - Staffordshire County Council
  • £238.57 - Staffordshire Commissioner (Police and Crime)
  • £78.78  - Staffordshire Commissioner (Fire and Rescue)
  • £186.89 - Tamworth Borough Council Services
