Tamworth Borough Council is pleased to announce that Art of Tamworth, led by New Urban Era, has achieved its crowdfunding goal of £10,905 through the We Are Tamworth programme in partnership with Spacehive, helping to bring local creativity to life.

Local people gave generously, and the campaign received 31 financial pledges from local people, including match funding from Tamworth Borough Council through the government’s Community Recovery Fund. The project will deliver free workshops that spark imagination and build confidence for local residents, bring families together for a lively arts event with headline and local performers, and create colourful public artwork co-designed with the community and displayed at bus stops.

The festival aims to celebrate creativity across Tamworth, bring people together through shared cultural experiences, and strengthen the town’s growing arts scene. By making workshops and activities free, the project opens opportunities for all ages and backgrounds to get involved, learn new skills and feel part of Tamworth’s creative community.

Vic Brown Founder of New Urban Era said: "Reaching our funding goal for the Art of Tamworth is a huge step forward, and it's fantastic news for the whole community. This achievement means we can deliver an event that goes beyond showcasing incredible artistic talent; it allows us to actively support and strengthen community cohesion. By featuring headline artists from diverse backgrounds and cultures, the Art of Tamworth will create meaningful opportunities for everyone in Tamworth to connect, share experiences, and celebrate the richness that diversity brings to our town."

Councillor Lewis Smith, portfolio holder for people services, engagement, leisure and heritage, said: “It’s brilliant to see Art of Tamworth reach its crowdfunding target. This festival will give local people the chance to take part in free creative activities and enjoy an event that celebrates our town’s talent and diversity. We’re proud to support another community‑led project that brings people together and makes Tamworth an even more vibrant place.”

Art of Tamworth is one of several community-led projects funded through the We Are Tamworth programme, which supports ideas that build connection, inclusion and pride across the borough.

There are still other local projects live on the Spacehive platform seeking support. Read more about the projects and how to support them:

The We Are Tamworth programme is delivered by Tamworth Borough Council in partnership with Spacehive and funded through the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s £600,000 Community Recovery Fund. The programme was created following the civil unrest in Tamworth on 4 August 2024 to enhance community cohesion and rebuild social trust.
