Light the darkness to honour Holocaust Memorial Day 2026

Tamworth Borough Council will honour Holocaust Memorial Day on Tuesday 27 January, by lighting the castle purple, as we commemorate the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust, and the millions more murdered under Nazi persecution.

Tamworth Borough Council’s gender pay gap is non-existent after targeted action to see equal pay. The council has just released its ninth annual report, continuing to report a consistent decline in the pay gap since first publishing in 2018 (data from 2017).

Another town centre shop closed after illegal tobacco uncovered

Tamworth Borough Council, working in close partnership with Staffordshire County Council Trading Standards and Staffordshire Police, have taken further decisive action to protect the public by securing a closure order on The Vape Shop/Tamworth Mini Market, Victoria Road, Tamworth, making this the second action within two weeks.
