Tamworth Borough Council is inviting local people to take part in a survey to help understand resident’s thoughts towards physical activity and movement, recreation, leisure, wellbeing, culture and local facilities.
Questions about what Tamworth offers to encourage local people to lead a healthy and active lifestyle; and what might stop people becoming more active and engaging in local opportunities, are just some of those included in the survey.
The survey responses are anonymous and will be used by the council to understand what can be offered and improved to encourage communities to be more active and engage in local community opportunities.
Tamworth Borough Council recognises that health and wellbeing is important to enabling a full and active life. Movement and physical activity play an important role and provides a good foundation for a healthy lifestyle, as well as reducing the risk of health conditions, including some cancers, cardiovascular disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.
The council want to know what support and help residents in Tamworth need to move more to benefit their health and wellbeing. The benefits are wider than just impacting on health and wellbeing alone. The social benefits and interaction of casual participation, joining a local group, or sports club, are also important in developing strong and cohesive communities, and inclusive relationships.
The hope is that as many people as possible take part in this survey over coming weeks so the council receives some representative and useful information that can help inform future service improvements and local facilities.
The survey will take around 10 - 12 minutes to complete.

Hannah Peate, Assistant Director for Environment, Culture and Wellbeing for Tamworth Borough Council, said:
“Being more active is important for all of us. It doesn’t just mean taking up a sport, being more active can include going for a walk and everyday movement. We’re encouraging everyone to take part in this survey, and feedback will help us look at residents’ physical and wellbeing priorities.
“We will use the feedback from local people in this survey to see how we can encourage more residents to be active and to look at what activities and opportunities we can improve.
“I’d urge as many people as possible to take part and have your say by visiting our website and spend a few minutes sharing views anonymously; helping us gain real meaningful insight from residents across the borough.”
