A council tenant has been issued by Nuneaton court a 12-month injunction order, plus a power of arrest and an exclusion order.
The Tamworth Borough Council tenant from Sorrel, Amington, made multiple threats to members of the community and agencies working with them. The court established that the threats were serious and prolonged, therefore additionally issued a power of arrest and an exclusion order. This means the tenant cannot live at their current property for the next 12 months and must find themselves alternative accommodation.
The council initially made an emergency application to the court in May 2024, and was awarded an interim injunction with power of arrest only. Evidence presented to the court on Thursday 13 June, showed that the injunction had been breached and added the exclusion order.
The injunction order requires the tenant to not:
- Visit or stay at his home address
- Enter a designated area of Sorrel
- Use abusive and threatening language toward a person who resides in, or any other person (whether residing, visiting or otherwise engaged in a lawful activity) in the locality of Sorrel and throughout the borough of Tamworth
- Use violence towards, or threaten to use violence towards a specified individual or any person in the locality of Staffordshire
- Contact either directly or indirectly, or visit a specified individual
- Engage or threaten to engage in conduct which causes, or is capable of causing, nuisance or annoyance to a person who resides in or visiting, or otherwise engaged in a lawful activity, in the local of Sorrel, Amington, Tamworth and throughout the borough of Tamworth
The order shall remain in force until 17 May 2025 at 11.59 pm.
