- Tamworth Borough Council awards community grants to five groups

Local community and voluntary groups have received £5,000 in community grants, thanks to the latest round of quarterly grants from Tamworth Borough Council.
Five groups, have each been awarded grants of £1,000 from the Community Grants scheme that is available for community, not for profit organisations or for identified not for profit projects to work collaboratively and flexibly to meet the needs of the residents of Tamworth.
The latest awards have been given to the following groups:
- St Edith's Church: £1,000 towards the cost of a coffee machine for their community café opened last June for the benefit of everyone in Tamworth. The cafe is run by trained volunteers and provides a selection of hot drinks, cakes and snacks.
- 2nd Dosthill Brownies: £1,000 towards the cost of purchasing a laptop and case, Microsoft Office, 3X memory sticks, website, printer and ink.
- Tamworth Musical Theatre Company: £1,000 towards the cost to hire a British Sign Language signer at their production of Oliver, to enable those who are deaf or have a hearing impairment to enjoy a theatre production.
- The Up Creative CIC: £1,000 to assist with the overall costs, facilitator costs, Giraffe pad login -and refreshments for the Rise UP project. The organisation actively works to engage, enable and empower people to be creatively resourceful using items destined for landfill; UPskilling people, UPcycling for the planet, and UPlifting for positive mental health.
- C.H.O.I.C.E.S. CIC: £1,000 towards core costs of venue.
