- Fire training exercises taking place throughout April

Tamworth Borough Council is working in partnership with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to enable local firefighters to practice specialist skills.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are leading a series of specialist training exercises at Stanhope House, high rise on Lichfield Street.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Tamworth Borough Council are making local people aware of increased activity and presence of emergency vehicles whilst the training is taking place throughout April.
The training exercises will be carefully planned to ensure the safety of the residents and the emergency personnel.
Duncan Cole, Station Manager at Tamworth Belgrave Community Fire Station, said “We want to make residents and local businesses aware that crews from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service will be working on training exercises throughout April at Stanhope House in Tamworth.
“The purpose of these exercises is to enhance the skills and readiness of our firefighters and emergency responders.
“A small number of fire appliances and resources may be observed in the area while the exercises are carried out.
“Members of the public will not be involved, and exercise areas will be tightly controlled.”
The training exercises will simulate various emergency scenarios to better prepare their local teams for real-life situations.
Rob Barnes, Executive Director for Communities, said “We’re very happy to support Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service with their life saving training.
“We’re urging residents not to be alarmed or worried whilst the training exercises are taking place.
“The aim of these exercises is to benefit the wider community and to better prepare our town’s emergency responders, making sure they are continuously well trained for different real-life emergency scenarios.
“We understand that there may be temporary inconveniences, but we kindly ask for your cooperation and understanding during this time.”
