Tamworth Borough Council are inviting all music lovers to a new live local music evening as the Assembly Rooms presents ‘The Stage’ on Saturday 29 March.

‘The Stage’ is a new local music night at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms, showcasing some of the best emerging bands and artists of the Midlands. Honouring those who have graced the Assembly Rooms stage before, such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Wolfsbane.

‘The Stage’ celebrates our musical history while providing a platform for new talent. Spanning all genres, it brings together bands and music fans in a vibrant scene.

The evening will feature a fantastic line-up of great local artists of various musical styles. It will be a celebration of the incredibly strong Tamworth music scene, and a great showcase of brilliant musical talent.

Bands include Martin Reynolds and The Minor Detours, a Tamworth based band influenced by musical legends such as Neil Young and The Rolling Stones to create its own unique brand of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Alongside Martin’s live band The Minor Detours, they have performed at Nantwich Jazz, Blues and Music Festival, Worcester Music Festival, Villa Park and Tamworth’s commonwealth games closing ceremony. They have also supported legendary acts such as Brian Downey of Thin Lizzy, Edgar Broughton of the Edgar Broughton band and Jim White.

Newer to the music night scene is MaMuzic, who will perform with their alternative dance act, that will bring an electronic vibe of funk and soul mixed with a disco flavour.

Tickets are priced at £10, with doors opening at 7.30pm. Book via: Book an Event | assemblyrooms, or pop in to the Tamworth Assembly Rooms to buy tickets from the box office, or call 01827 709618.

Councillor Lewis Smith, portfolio holder for people services, engagement and leisure for Tamworth Borough Council, said: “Over the years, the Assembly Rooms stage has hosted big names like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and local band Wolfsbane, who helped put our theatre well and truly on the map, building its legacy to where it is today.

“We’re excited to welcome back live local musicians to the Assembly Rooms as part of our regular programme. Music is at the heart of our community with so many talented musicians living locally.

“I’m delighted we can showcase this talent in our town centre venue for an unforgettable evening of live music. Audiences are in for a real treat and will also be supporting some of our very best local acts.”
