- Community Kicks raises over £13,000 through community crowdfunding
- Tamworth Borough Council’s third fully funded project under the We Are Tamworth programme
- Free football programme to boost skills, inclusion and confidence for local youth
Tamworth Borough Council are pleased to announce that Community Kicks, a youth football initiative led by Vision for All, has successfully reached its crowdfunding goal of more than £13,000. It is the third community project to be fully funded through the We Are Tamworth programme, delivered by Tamworth Borough Council in partnership with Spacehive.
The project received 65 pledges, including support from local residents, community organisations, and match funding from Tamworth Borough Council, Staffordshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and the government’s Community Recovery Fund.
With funding secured, Community Kicks will provide free weekly football sessions at Vision Football Factory in Tamworth for young people aged 11–16. The sessions will create a safe and inclusive environment, particularly for those facing challenges such as low self-esteem, confidence issues, or conditions like ADHD, giving them the opportunity to build skills, make friends, and feel part of their community.
Councillor Sarah Daniels, portfolio holder for cooperative council, community partnerships and antisocial behaviour said:
“Community Kicks reaching its crowdfunding goal is a fantastic achievement for Tamworth. This project will give young people a safe space to enjoy sport, grow in confidence, and feel connected to their community. The We Are Tamworth programme is about empowering local ideas like this that bring people together and build resilience. We are proud to support Community Kicks and look forward to seeing the positive difference it makes.”
Brett Craythorne, Director at Vision for All said: " We’re incredibly grateful to all the donors who have made this possible. Thanks to their support, young people in our community will now have access to free weekly football sessions, as well as opportunities for guidance, mentorship, and exposure to positive role models.
This milestone marks the beginning of an exciting journey, and we can’t wait to get started and see the impact it will have on the lives of local youth.”
Starting in Autumn 2025, the programme will run weekly football training, with the aim of reducing barriers to participation and tackling youth isolation. By providing a free, supportive space for young people, the project also contributes to wider efforts to prevent youth crime and promote inclusion.
This success reflects Tamworth Borough Council’s ongoing commitment to support projects that build stronger communities, promote inclusion and increase opportunity for local people.
There are still other local projects live on the Spacehive platform seeking support, including initiatives focused on mental health, gambling prevention, and healthy relationships.
