Tamworth Borough Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr David Poole as an independent member of the audit and governance committee, following a rigorous public recruitment and selection process.

Mr Poole will serve a three-year term, providing independent oversight and valuable expertise to support the committee’s work in making sure the council operates with transparency, accountability, and strong governance.

After a public recruitment and formal interview process, the audit and governance committee recommended the appointment to full council on 9 September. Independent members play a key role in strengthening decision-making, supporting risk management, and making sure that local residents can have confidence in how the council manages its finances and services.

Stephen Gabriel, Chief Executive of Tamworth Borough Council said:
“We are delighted to welcome Mr David Poole as an independent panel member. David will bring a fresh perspective and will help challenge how the council is run.

“His experience and impartial outlook will add real value to our work for local communities. This appointment is another step in making sure local people can be confident that the council is managing money properly, keeping risks under control and making decision in an open and transparent way.

“I look forward to working with him over the coming years as we continue to strengthen the way the council serves our community.”
