If you are a council tenant, there are certain repairs which are our responsibility to fix, such as repair and maintenance of the main structure of the building, as well as some communal areas.
You can see who is responsible for what, in detail, in our Landlord Services Repairs Policy, along with everything else you need to know about our repairs service and commitment to you.
Reporting repairs and emergency repairs
You can:
- Report it online.
- Call 0800 183 0044. This number is staffed 24/7 and should also be used to report an out of hours repair in an emergency. Please note calls might be charged from a mobile.
You can monitor the status of your repair and review the repair history of your property in your MyHousing account.
Our repairs contractor
Repairs to council houses are delivered in partnership with our repairs contractor, EQUANS, and it’s likely it will be a representative from EQUANS who visits your home.
All staff carry ID cards which you are urged to check before allowing someone into your home. We will call or text ahead, so you know when to expect someone. Please call us on the number above if you have any concerns about someone visiting your home.
You must allow repair workers into your home when work is needed, including annual safety checks and inspections.
Timescale for repairs
When your repair is logged, it will be given an order of priority. We will aim to complete emergency repairs within 24 hours. This could include loss of power, where it’s not the result of a power supplier issue, loss of water supply, total or partial gas supply, loss of heating and certain leaks or blockages.
Other repairs should be completed within five working days, or longer, depending on the nature of the problem.
Looking after your home
Many internal repairs and maintenance work are the responsibility of individual council tenants. We want to help you look after your home and have put together some guidance, including a series of how-to videos for simple repairs tasks.
