A FREE children’s clay workshop is coming to Ankerside Shopping Centre this half term.

Families will be shown how to create their own pinch pot using air-dry clay and decorating using natural materials. Experiment with twigs, leaves and flowers to create beautiful pots that you’ll be able to take home and admire.
Children must be aged 5+ and all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Pop down to Ankerside Shopping Centre, B79 7LG to enjoy these fun crafting sessions.
Lasting approximately 30 minutes, the sessions will run on:

- Wednesday 29 May - 10am, 10.45am, 11.30am, 12.45pm, 13.30pm, 14.14pm.
Please pre-book your timeslot here https://www.tamworthcastle.co.uk/whats-ticket?webeventid=castlepinchpot
All tools and materials will be provided, and we recommend wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit messy.
It’ll be a fun activity to entertain the children during half term, and you can keep the masterpiece for years to come.
These particular workshops run alongside the Edith Gater Exhibition. Pieces from Edith’s ceramic and watercolour will be on display in Ankerside, St Editha’s Church, Tamworth Library and Tamworth Castle from Tuesday 28 May. Each display will reveal a different aspect of Editha’s work. Why not pop on down to take a look at the beautiful exhibitions and immerse yourself in the creativity of her pieces.
Stephen Gabriel, Chief Executive for Tamworth Borough Council, said: “These heritage craft workshops are just some of the workshops that we have offered. Other workshops and drop-in days have been very popular and it’s great to see Tamworth residents getting involved in heritage crafts.
“We hope to keep helping people explore creativity and get audiences involved with our fantastic Tamworth heritage and castle, especially as we have a new unseen collection of works from Edith Gater on display.”
These workshops help local people to re-connect with traditional heritage crafts and build on other heritage craft sessions which have already taken place over the last 12 months. Previous sessions include blacksmithing, weaving, wet felting, clay tile making and more. Tamworth Borough Council will advertise further sessions on their Tamworth Castle website.
The workshops are part of a programme of community engagement activities funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
