Tamworth Borough Council has allocated funding from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), totalling more than £120,000, for local borough projects that benefit the community.
CIL is a charge applied to types of new build development within the borough. It is money which must be used for local infrastructure projects. Developers looking to build in Tamworth are asked to contribute towards projects which benefit the whole town, as part of the infrastructure levy adopted by Tamworth Borough Council.
Approved projects
- Replacement roof for the Cancer and Wellbeing Centre
- Refurbishment of the library facility at Hanbury Farm Primary School
- Football goal posts at Comberford Road recreation park
- Replacing the fencing around the skate park in the castle grounds
- Feasibility work to identify the potential for a heritage centre in the Town Hall
Councillor Ben Clarke, portfolio holder for housing, homelessness and planning for Tamworth Borough Council, said: “We’re proud to be investing in our communities through the CIL Neighbourhood Fund. This funding allows us to support projects that promote health, cohesion, sustainability, and protect our heritage, making a real, lasting difference to people’s lives.
“The fund isn’t tied to any one development, which means we can be flexible and responsive, directing it to where it’s needed most.
“I’m pleased to see it being used to strengthen vital services and support positive growth across our town and local area.”
