- Council setting new five-year priority list
- Anyone with an interest in building a better Tamworth invited to have their say
- Take part by visiting a consultation event, filling in an online survey or collecting a paper survey from Tamworth Assembly Rooms
Tamworth Borough Council is inviting local people, business, voluntary groups and anyone with an interest in Tamworth to take part in a consultation to help shape service priorities for the next five years.
This consultation forms part of work to develop a new corporate plan for Tamworth Borough Council. Every well-run council has a corporate plan, so local people, local businesses, council employees and partners understand what the organisation is working to achieve and how it plans to do that.
Tamworth Borough Council has already worked closely with local community and voluntary groups, the Chamber of Commerce, local emergency services, NHS and others to develop some key areas of focus to help build a better Tamworth.
Now it’s the turn of residents, local business owners and community and voluntary groups to have their say on the future priorities of Tamworth Borough Council. No specialist knowledge of the council is needed, just a willingness to share views and help build a better Tamworth.
Have your say:
- Drop in to one of the consultation events:
- Tuesday 6 August, 11.30am – 3pm, Sacred Heart Community Centre, Silver Link
- Thursday 8 August, 12noon – 2pm and 4pm – 6pm, Castle Grounds, upper lawn (near the bandstand)
- Tuesday 13 August, 10am – 1pm, Town Hall, Tamworth town centre,
- Thursday 15 August, 10am – 12noon, Community Together Commonwealth in Commonhealth Centre, (The Hub) Castle Grounds
- Thursday 15 August, 2pm – 4pm, ASDA, Ventura.
- Take the online survey: visit the council website at tamworth.gov.uk/consultation and follow the instructions.
- Pop into Tamworth Borough Council’s Assembly Rooms, Corporation Street to fill in a paper copy of the survey.
The hope is that as many people as possible take part in this survey over coming weeks so the council receives some really representative and useful information that can help inform future service improvements.
Everyone is encouraged to have their say before the consultation closes on 26 August.
Carol Dean, Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: “With a newly formed council cabinet and cohort of councillors elected in May 2024 it’s an appropriate point to refresh our aims and ambitions for the borough. Some themes, however, remain constant. Residents have consistently told us that they want neighbourhoods to be cleaner and safer, for us to operate efficiently and listen more to them. Greater prosperity for our communities and local businesses is a universal aspiration. Other goals, like protecting the environment, developing skills and addressing the crisis in affordable housing, also need to be addressed. The draft priorities for the next five years reflect that.
“Getting the list of priorities right is important; while working to maintain a financially stable council, we’ll also make sure funding and work is shaped around these areas so that we can best service all Tamworth Communities.
“Your views are very important to us; with your help we’ll develop a plan that really seeks to meet the needs of everyone living, working, or visiting Tamworth.
“I’d urge as many people as possible to take part and have your say by visiting our website tamworth.gov.uk/consultation and spend a few minutes sharing views; helping us gain real meaningful insight from everyone across the borough.”
