Our vision is for a Tamworth that is fairer, more connected and inclusive, where all residents can lead safe, happy and healthy lives.
We Are Tamworth brings together the town’s thriving network of organisations and people who share that ambition. By combining our knowledge, experience and resources, we can build stronger communities, create a greater sense of pride and belonging and help more residents play an active part in the future of their town.
The We Are Tamworth partnership
The We Are Tamworth partnership includes representatives from charity, community and voluntary organisations, health services, employment and skills, education, family support, youth services, faith groups and council teams.
The partnership meets regularly to share progress, discuss ideas and identify opportunities to work together on the things that matter most to Tamworth people.
This collaborative approach helps partners to:
- connect related projects and services;
- share knowledge about the needs of local communities;
- support each other in developing new ideas;
- make better use of the resources available; and
- turn promising ideas into practical action.

How We Are Tamworth began
We Are Tamworth started when Tamworth Borough Council was awarded £600,000 from the government’s Community Recovery Fund to help strengthen trust and relationships across the borough.
Part of the funding was used to hold in-depth ‘Honest Conversations’ with more than 500 residents and 40 organisations. These conversations explored the challenges and opportunities affecting Tamworth’s communities and what local people believed would make the greatest difference.
The answers were used to create the We Are Tamworth Building Better Communities strategy. It identifies six shared priorities and provides a framework for organisations and communities to work together to address them.
Our shared priorities:
Pride in Tamworth - To build and sustain an inclusive local identity and civic pride.
Partnerships for building better communities - To sustain and strengthen collaboration between strategic partners across Tamworth.
Localising community empowerment and building trust - To empower residents and community groups in the areas where they live.
Neighbourliness, connection and belonging- To create opportunities for people to understand each other better and have their voices heard.
Democratic resilience - To support communities to uphold democratic values, practices and institutions.
Tackling deprivation, hardship and inequality - To challenge structural inequalities, promote inclusive growth and ensure prosperity and wellbeing are shared more evenly.

Turning shared priorities into action
A key part of We Are Tamworth is helping people turn good ideas into action for the benefit of their local communities.
A large pot of cash from the Community Recovery Fund has therefore been allocated to various grant schemes.
This includes the Spacehive crowdfunding platform, which is raising tens of thousands of pounds through a combination of council grants and donations from local people.
You can find out more about Spacehive, including how to start a project and who has been successful so far, on the Spacehive Tamworth website.
Or visit our voluntary sector grants page to find out about other community funds available.
