  • New online payment supplier ‘pay by phone’ appointed
  • New payment facility for council town centre car parks
  • Visitors advised to look out for new signs and details of how to use the new app

Tamworth Borough Council car park users will soon be able to use the ‘pay by phone’ app to pay for parking at council run town centre car parks.

The app, which is available to use in Tamworth from mid-November, allows visitors to pay for their parking via their phone. The app is simple to use and allows visitors to increase their parking stay at any time, so no need to rush back when the ticket is running out. Visitors will still be able to pay with cash or via contactless payment if they prefer.

Car park users are asked to look out for new app payment details on the revised car park information boards, coming soon.

Councillor Nova Arkney, portfolio holder for infrastructure, heritage and local economy, said: “We are happy to now announce that ‘Pay by phone’ has been appointed as our supplier for phone/online parking payments.

“We recognise this has taken some time to implement since our last provider contract expired. This has been due to unforeseen delays with the process involved in setting up a new contract. The app is quick and easy to use, and we hope this option provides visitors with an easier way to pay for parking, making it more accessible for people to park in the town or extend their stay.”
