Refuse and recycling collection day changes over Christmas and New Year

The joint waste service are making some temporary changes to bin collection days over the festive period and wish to thank residents for their understanding at this busy time.  

If your bin is normally collected on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, please look out for a bin tag on either your blue or black bin in mid-December. These tags will provide clear information about your revised collection day.

If your bin is usually collected on a Thursday or Friday, you will not receive a bin tag. Simply put your bins out one day later than normal after Christmas and New Year.

Councillor David Foster, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Environmental Sustainability, Waste and Recycling at Tamworth Borough Council said: “If you live in Tamworth, Fazeley, or nearby areas and your regular bin day is Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, your collections are most affected by the Christmas break. Look out for a bin tag in mid-December—it will tell you when to put your bins out. You can also check our online collection calendar at Bins and recycling | Tamworth Borough Council.”

Lichfield District Council’s cabinet member for Operational Services, Parks and Waste, Councillor Phil Whitehouse, said:“If your normal bin day is Thursday or Friday, it’s simple—just put your bins out a day later than usual after Christmas & New Year for a total of two weeks.”

Bin collections will return to their regular schedule on Monday, 6 January 2025.
