Tamworth residents are being encouraged to ‘shop local’ and celebrate Tamworth’s fantastic independent businesses this Small Business Saturday on 5 December 2026.
With at least 50 independent shops in Tamworth town centre, there are plenty of places to discover something different this Christmas, whether you’re looking for unique gifts, festive treats or everyday essentials.
Tamworth Borough Council is backing the campaign again this year and encouraging residents and visitors to explore the town centre, browse its independent retailers, visit the popular market and discover the range of products and services available on their doorstep.
Small Business Saturday is a national campaign that celebrates small businesses and encourages people to support independent shops and businesses in their communities. Taking place on the first Saturday in December, it also highlights the important role these businesses play in creating vibrant town centres and supporting the local economy.
From specialist shops and independent retailers to local artists, crafters and places to stop for a festive drink or bite to eat, shopping locally is a great way to find something special while helping to support Tamworth’s businesses.
Councillor Carol Dean, Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: “Tamworth has a fantastic range of independent businesses, with at least 50 in our town centre alone. Each has something different to offer, and together they help make our town centre a unique place to shop, visit and spend time.
“Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity to discover shops you might not have visited before, find something a little different for Christmas and show your support for the local businesses that help our town centre thrive.
“By shopping local and supporting Tamworth’s independent businesses, we’re backing local entrepreneurs and the people who bring new ideas, character and choice to our town. Every visit and purchase can make a difference, so I’d encourage everyone to explore Tamworth’s independent shops and see what they can find this festive season.”
Residents can also look out for posts on Tamworth Borough Council’s social media channels in the run-up to Small Business Saturday, showcasing the wide range of independent businesses and great local shopping on offer in Tamworth this festive season.
