Tam-mirth Comedy Festival is right around the corner

With Tam-mirth Comedy Festival and Mortified, Tamworth Borough Council are offering a fantastic and diverse range of comedy entertainment next month, at Tamworth Assembly Rooms.

Starting on Thursday 12 September at 7.30pm with ‘An Evening with Laurel & Hardy’. Join Neil Brand, composer, writer, broadcaster, musician with his all-new show about the immortal comedy duo. 

Fully illustrated with stills, clips (both silent and sound) and Neil’s superlative piano accompaniment and culminating in two of the boys’ best silent short films, Big Business and Liberty, this is a show that promises gales of laughter throughout, as well as getting under the skin of two warm, funny men who continue to make the world laugh.

On Friday 20 September at 7.30pm watch ‘The Very Best of Tommy Cooper – Just Like That!’. 

This 90-minute show gives you a glimpse into the life of the big man himself and features his best one-liners, dazzling wordplay and celebrated tricks, including Glass/Bottle, Dappy Duck, Spot the Dog and Jar/Spoon.

On Saturday 21 September at 8pm join Hal Cruttenden and Darren Harriott for their first appearance at Tam-Mirth’s Comedy festival. 

Get ready for a night of uproarious laughter and great live music as ‘Stand Up & Rock’ returns on Sunday 22 September 7.30pm with Stan Boardman, The Subterraneans and Scott Bennett. This electrifying theatre show promises a night to remember, blending the best of stand-up comedy with the unforgettable sounds that have defined generations.

Ed Byrne returns with his hit show ‘Tragedy plus time’ on Thursday 26 September at 7.30pm, which was sold out when he last appeared.

If you’ve managed to grab tickets for Jack Dee on Friday 27 September, then you’re in luck as this show is now sold out.

Councillor Lewis Smith, Portfolio holder for people services, engagement and leisure for Tamworth Borough Council, said: “We’re really excited to set up this event at the Assembly Rooms and once again leading on the Tam-mirth Comedy Festival.

“Bigger than ever before, we have fantastic comedy and musical acts coming to our wonderful town centre venue. It’s set to be a great month full of fun, laughter and music. If you’re going to watch one or all of the shows, you’re in for a treat.
