- New Corporate Plan sets out council's vision and priorities for 2025-2030
- Four priority areas focus on Prosperity and Place, Environment, Community Wellbeing, and Council
- Plan developed through extensive consultation with local communities, businesses and partners
Tamworth Borough Council has today unveiled its new Corporate Plan for 2025-2030, setting out the council's strategic goals and key priorities for the next five years under the vision of ‘Building a Better Tamworth.’
The plan, which follows the election of a new cohort of councillors in May 2024 and the appointment of a new Chief Executive, identifies four key priority areas: Prosperity and Place, Environment, Community Wellbeing, and Council.
Developed following extensive consultation with residents, businesses, other public sector partners, and community and voluntary sector organisations across the borough, the plan addresses the challenges and opportunities facing Tamworth over the next five years.
Stephen Gabriel, Chief Executive of Tamworth Borough Council, said: "This Corporate Plan represents our roadmap for the future and reflects what matters most to the people of Tamworth. While we face significant financial challenges, we also have remarkable opportunities to transform our borough for the better.
"By setting clear priorities and working collaboratively with our partners and communities we can work to make sure that Tamworth continues to thrive as a vibrant town with a rich heritage, supporting all our residents to lead fulfilling lives. We’ll work to address inequalities across our neighbourhoods and create opportunities for our communities to thrive. The plan will drive the council to address the identified priorities and work closely with partner organisations who may be better placed to achieve them.”
The plan outlines 18 specific aims across the four priority areas, including supporting business growth, addressing skills shortages, achieving net-zero carbon emissions, improving wellbeing, and ensuring the council remains financially resilient.
The Corporate Plan will be supported by an annual delivery plan explaining how and when priorities will be delivered, with robust monitoring arrangements to track progress. It will also guide the council's transformation to drive service improvements and enhance digital opportunities.
